Westfield finishes fifth in the 2007 VHSL AAA State Tournament.

16 Feb 07 - Northern Region Championship

Westfield finishes third in the Northern Region Championship.  Tyler Hutchens (125) and Joel Hutchens (135) are regional champions for the second year in a row and Paul Grinups (145) wins his first regional title.  Also Brett Sposa (119) was a third place medalist, and John Orchard-Hays (112) and Jake Carey (140) were fourth place finishers.  Six wrestlers advance to the Virginia AAA State Championships.



 

10 Feb 07 - Concorde District Championship

Four-Peat!  For the fourth year in a row Westfield is the Concorde District Champions.  Congratulations to our five District Champions (Tyler Hutchens -125, Joel Hutchens - 135, Jake Carey - 140,  Paul Grinups - 145, and Brian Patelunas - 189), five runner-ups (John Orchard-Hays - 112, Brett Sposa -119, Brandon Berling - 130, Austin Fallon -160, and Lamar Owusu - 215), two third-place medalists (Kevin Koch -152 and Cory Ashwood - 285), and our  fourth place finisher (Brian Miquelon - 171).  Thirteen wrestlers advance to Regionals.












Bulldogs win the Bobcat Invitational

With 263 points, the Bulldogs won the Bobcat Invitational at Battlefield High School by outscoring Gar-Field, Battlefield, Manassas Park, Henrico, and Petersburg.  The Tournament's Outstanding Wrestler was Joel Hutchens (135 lbs).







Bulldogs finish second in Westfield JV Invitational

With 176 points, Colonial Forge won the Westfield JV Invitational and the Bulldogs finished second with 147 points.  However, the Bulldogs had 6 individual champions (Drew Morson, Jarrod Branch, Matt Swartz, Dido Subyai, Al Dintino, and Jeff Carey), 1 runner-up (Jeremy Ryan), 2 third places (James Chilton and Chris Vann), and 2 fourth places (Ben Sykes and Zach Tomko).  Congratulations to Donahue's Dawgs in another outstanding performance.  

Tyler Hutchens earned his 100th Career Win on January 20th, 2007 and now ranks #9 in career wins.  Paul Grinups remains #1 in career wins with 139, Jake Carey is #3 with 126, and Joel Hutchens is #4 with 125.  Four of the Top 10 wrestlers in school history are in the line-up at the same time!
