| 10 Feb 06 - Concorde District Championship
Three-Peat! In dramatic fashion, Westfield's upper weights (145 - HWT) solidified the third consecutive Concorde District Championship for the Bulldogs. With the addition of Wrestling Power-houses Robinson and Fairfax, defense of the district title was a daunting task. Despite leading for the entire day, Robinson slowly chipped away at the lead and after a Robinson victory in the 125 lb Final, Westfield's lead shrank to only 3.5 points. However, the Bulldog upper weights came charging forward in defense of the team title. With Westfield-Robinson match-ups in the consolation finals at 145 and 160, these bouts would determine the outcome of the tournament. With a hard-fought win at 145 over Wes Jerman of Robinson, Eric Schulte passed the baton to Senior Allen Blount. Allen's 5 -2 decision in the 160 lb consolation finals put the team over the top and was instrumental in securing the Bulldogs' third district championship, winning by 17.5 points. Congratulations to our two District Champions (Jake Carey -130 and Joel Hutchens - 135), four runner-ups (Brett Sposa -112, Tyler Hutchens - 119, Ethan Carmody -125, and Paul Grinups - 140), four third-place medalists (Eric Schulte -145, Allen Blount - 160, Nate McKenzie - 171, and Mo Ghayour - HWT), and our two fourth place finishers (Jeremy Ryan - 103 and Brian Miquelon - 152). Twelve wrestlers advance to Regionals on 16 Feb 06 at Centreville High School. First Round starts at 5:00 pm. Come out and support our biggest showing ever at Regionals.

30 Dec 05 - Conestoga Valley Holiday Classic
To enjoy the holidays, the Bulldogs traveled to Lancaster Pennsylvania to compete against some of the toughest teams in Central Pennsylvania and Delaware. The Bulldogs finished 13th out of 24 Teams and had three medalists: Tyler Hutchens, 5th at 119 lbs, Jake Carey, 5th at 130 lbs, and Paul Grinups, 3rd at 140 lbs. In addition, our Black Squad wrestlers competed in the Junior Varsity (JV) version of the Holiday Classic and also had three medalists: Justin Brown, 1st at 125 lbs (Our first JV Champion ever at this tournament), Nate McKenzie, 3rd at 189 lbs, and Lamar Owusu, 3rd at 215 lbs. The guys had a fun time at the Lancaster Resort (didn't you Jeremy!) and learned some valuable lessons about being mentally tough, mat wrestling, and wrestling against nationally ranked opponents. And they will get their chance to immediately apply their lessons learned this weekend at the Battlefield Duals where we will wrestle several of the top teams in the Nation.

| 23 Dec 05 - DEA Duals
In exciting fashion (Is there any other way for our Team?), the Bulldogs won 8 straight dual meets to win the DEA Duals Championship for the second year in a row. With Langley leading the Championship Dual 34 - 18, Westfield's "Murderers Row" took to the Mat. Tyler Hutchens (119) won a tough decision 10-3, Ethan Carmody (125) upset the number one ranked 125 lber in the Region, and Jake Carey (130) captured a quick pin to close the score to 34 - 30. Needing a pin or a technical fall (a major would only tie the team score and Langley would have won based on tie-breaking criteria), Westfield's last wrestler, Joel Hutchens (135) took to the mat with his team's fate solely in his hands. After several unsuccessful attempts to pin his opponent, Joel raced the clock to garner enough takedowns for the technical fall. With only seconds remaining, Joel secured the final takedown and technical fall to win the DEA Duals Championship 35 -34. Tyler, Ethan, Jake, and Joel were all named Outstanding Wrestlers in their respective weight classes. Congratulations to all. It took every individual's effort in all eight dual meets to capture this year's title. Of special note: Drew Morson (103), Justin Brown (125), Anthony Alfano (130), Tyler Jennelle (130), Zach Tomko (160), and Greg Bush (215) all recorded their first Varsity Win. Congratulations!
