Assistant Coach



Derek Donahue began coaching at Westfield High School in 2003 as the head junior varsity wrestling coach and assistant varsity coach. For the past three years he has continued to coach as the varsity assistant and is the strength coach for the Westfield wrestling team. 

Coach Donahue began his coaching career as an assistant varsity wrestling coach at Mclean High School in 1981. He transferred to George C. Marshall in 1982 where he was the strength and conditioning coach for the football and wrestling programs. He coached as an assistant for the freshman, junior varsity and varsity football teams until 1988.  He also was the assistant varsity wrestling coach until 1988.  In 1988 Coach Donahue moved to Centreville and coached at the newly built Centreville High School. He was the assistant varsity football and wrestling coach until 1992.
 
In 1998 Donahue began coaching youth soccer for both boys and girls clubs in Centreville.  He continues to coach soccer as the head coach for a U15 Elite ladies travel soccer team.  He also coached youth football from the Ankle Bitter division through 110 lb pound division for the Chantilly Youth Association (CYA) from 2003 thru 2008. Coach Donahue began coaching youth wrestling for the South Western Youth Association (SYA) in 2002. He was the head coach for the SYA wrestling program from 2003- 2005. He became the Head coach for the Mat Dogs an elite travel wrestling team in 2005 until 2009.  
He is also the linebackers varsity football coach at Westfield and the head junior varsity and assistant varsity ladies soccer coach.
 
Donahue attended George C. Marshall High School and was a multi letter athlete in football, wrestling and baseball. He attended George Mason University and James Madison University and has a degree in Computer Science and Business Management.
 
Donahue is currently an Independent Information Technology consultant for fortune 500 companies and the Federal Government for the last 27 years starting his technology career in 1984.
Coach Donahue has been married to his wife Jeannie for 19 years, has two children, both attending Westfield High School; Beau (Junior) and Tori (So).
